Insights

A ranked feed of persisted, server-computed insight cards — stockout watch, cash crunch, receivables aging, dormant customers, standing-order misses, perishable freshness, GST window — each with a why-panel, a one-tap action, and a Wrong ✕ that actually teaches the model.

Overview

Every morning you ask the same questions: what's about to run out, who hasn't paid, which buyer missed a standing run, where is cash headed this week. Insights answers all of that on one screen, ranked by what hurts most. Each card is computed on the server from your live business data, carries a plain-language headline, a "why you're seeing this" panel with the underlying numbers, and one button that takes you straight to the fix.

Insights is a Capability. If it isn't enabled for your business yet, the page tells you exactly that — you'll never see placeholder or sample cards.

Where to find it

Sidebar → Insights (/insights) on the web. Visible to Owner, Manager and Accountant.

The top four ranked cards also appear as the Insights strip on the home dashboards (owner, manager and accountant variants), so the highest-impact items meet you at 9am without opening the feed.

On the phone the Admin app carries an Insights tab (/m/admin/insights) for Owner and Manager. Accountants read Insights on the web.

How cards are made

  • A nightly compute run rebuilds the feed after close of day, and targeted recomputes fire when orders, stock or payments move. If you open the feed before the first compute has run, you'll see an honest empty state — never invented cards.
  • Ranking is by impact and urgency, computed server-side. The rank you see ("01/06") is the real position in your feed, not a display trick.
  • Card headlines and prose are AI-narrated from the computed numbers; the why-panel always shows the raw figures the narration came from, so you can check the claim in one glance.

Key concepts

  • Insight card — one ranked tile: class tag, narrated headline, short prose, WHY panel, Wrong ✕, and a single action button deep-linking to the matching screen.
  • Why-panel — the numbers behind the card (days of cover, oldest balance, bucket totals). If a card ever looks wrong, open this first.
  • Wrong ✕ — persisted feedback. The card leaves your feed, the dismissal is saved, and the miss is recorded to teach the ranking. If the underlying condition is still true later, a future compute can surface it again — dismissal is "not now", not "never".

The card classes today: Stockout watch (SKUs running out, days of cover), Cash crunch forecast, Receivables aging, Dormant customer, Standing-order miss, Perishable freshness, and GST filing window. Businesses on the Pharma Pack additionally get DL licence expiry, Schedule-H Rx gap and Recall exposure cards.

Common workflows

1
Scan the ranked feed
Open Insights. Cards sit highest-impact first — the headline tells you the size of the problem: Linen Natural 44 runs out in 4 days, ₹2,50,000 aged past 60 days.
2
Check the why
Tap WHY on any card. The panel expands with the underlying numbers — days of cover, oldest balance, customers overdue — so you can trust the headline before acting on it.
3
Act in one tap
Hit the action button. Stockout drops you into Inventory at the affected SKUs; aging and cash-crunch open the receivables view in Reports; a standing-order miss opens Standing orders to reschedule the run.
4
Teach the model
If a card doesn't apply, tap Wrong ✕. It's saved — the card leaves the feed and the ranking learns from the miss.

Role notes

The feed itself is role-filtered on the server — an Accountant sees the money classes (aging, cash crunch, GST), while Owner and Manager see the full operational set. A card's action button drops you into another screen, and that screen still respects your normal permissions.

Tips & time-savers

Tip
Treat the home-screen Insights strip as your morning standup: it carries the same top-ranked cards as the full feed, with the same why-panels, without leaving the dashboard. The "N OF M" counter on the strip is the real ranked count.

The headline number on each card is the action: read the stat, open the why if you doubt it, tap the one button.

Gotchas

Warning
Cards are recomputed nightly (plus after order, stock and payment movement) — they are not a live per-second view. If you fixed a stockout five minutes ago, the card clears on the next compute, not instantly.
Warning
If Insights isn't enabled for your business, the page shows a capability explainer instead of the feed, and the home strip is hidden entirely. No cards on a brand-new tenant usually just means the first nightly compute hasn't run yet.
