Overview

Every morning you ask the same questions: who hasn't paid, what's about to run out, which buyer missed a standing run, how much came in on WhatsApp. Insights answers all of that on one screen, ranked by what hurts most. Each card is a number plus one button that takes you straight to the fix — no hunting through reports.

Where to find it

Sidebar → Insights (/insights) on the web. Visible to Owner, Manager and Accountant.

On the phone it lives in the Admin app as the Insights tab (/m/admin/insights) — that mobile tab is open to Owner and Manager only. Accountants read Insights on the web.

The feed refreshes itself every 60 seconds, and again whenever you switch back to the tab, so the numbers stay current without a manual reload.

Key concepts

  • Insight card — one ranked tile. It carries a tag, a big headline number (the stat), a one-line why, a Wrong ✕ button, and a single action button that deep-links into the matching screen.
  • Home snapshot — the same live read your home dashboard runs on (orders, receivables, inventory, intake, WhatsApp). Insights builds its cards from that one snapshot, so the feed never disagrees with your home screen.
  • Wrong ✕ — the dismiss control. Tapping it hides a card you think the model got wrong and teaches the ranking. It hides the card for the current view only — see Gotchas.

The seven cards built today: Cash crunch forecast (receivables that won't clear this week), Standing-order miss, Stockout watch (SKUs below reorder level), Receivables aging (open credit and oldest balance), Top customer signal (your latest order, or top credit alert if none), Intake freshness (inbound WhatsApp messages, parsed orders, median parse time), and GST summary window (today's order value and open orders).

Common workflows

1
Scan the ranked feed
Open Insights. Cards sit highest-impact first. The headline number on each card tells you the size of the problem at a glance — Rs 2,50,000 of receivables, 6 SKUs short, 3 customers missed.
2
Chase receivables
On the Cash crunch or Receivables aging card, hit the action button. It opens the receivables view in Reports (/reports?tab=receivables) with the open balances and the oldest aging already in front of you.
3
Fix a stockout
On Stockout watch, tap Reorder now. It drops you into Inventory (/inventory) at the SKUs below reorder level so you can raise a purchase before the lead time bites.
4
Open a missed run
On Standing-order miss, tap Open thread to jump to Standing orders (/standing-orders) and reschedule the buyer's run.
5
Check the WhatsApp pipe
On Intake freshness, tap Open inbox to land in WhatsApp (/whatsapp) and clear anything that didn't parse into an order.
6
Dismiss a wrong call
If a card doesn't apply today, tap Wrong ✕. It clears from your feed and tells the ranking it missed.

Role notes

Insights is read-only — nobody edits anything on this page. What differs by role is which action buttons land you somewhere you actually have access to. A card's button drops you into another screen, and that screen still respects your normal permissions.

  • Owner and Manager see every card and can follow every action button — receivables, inventory, standing orders, orders, WhatsApp.
  • Accountant sees the same feed on the web and can follow the money cards (receivables, ledger, GST summary in Reports). The operational buttons — Stockout's Reorder now and Standing-order's Open thread — land in Inventory and Standing orders, which are not part of an Accountant's access, so those actions aren't useful for that role. Accountants do not have a mobile Insights tab; they use the web.

Tips & time-savers

Tip
Leave Insights open on a second tab through the day. It re-reads the live snapshot every 60 seconds and on tab focus, so the receivables and intake numbers stay fresh — no refresh, no re-navigation. Treat it as your morning standup screen.

The headline number on each card is the action: you rarely need to open a report to know the size of the problem. Read the stat, decide, tap the one button.

Gotchas

Warning
Wrong ✕ only hides a card for your current view. It is not saved — leave the page or reload and every card comes back, including the ones you dismissed. The "All visible insights are hidden" screen has a Reset view button if you want them all back without reloading. Don't rely on Wrong ✕ as a permanent acknowledgement.
Warning
Insights is a live presentation of the home snapshot — it reflects what the dashboard reads right now. It does not yet pull from the dedicated analytics bundles (sales-target progress, discount effectiveness, route performance); those read-only Queries packages exist but feed future scorecard surfaces, not this feed today. So a number you don't see on a card isn't being tracked silently somewhere — Insights shows exactly the seven cards above.
